Beginner/Intermediate, Teens and Adults.

Come with me on an imaginary trip to beautiful Rockport, Mass. as we paint this famous scene of Rockport harbor, Motif #1, the most popular subject for photographers and artists alike. Learn techniques of painting reflections on water, color mixing, layout, perspective and applying oil paint. Beginners and intermediate, teens and adults. Some drawing experience required.

Safety Measures For All

Each student will arrive at the back stair (there is a ramp), line up six feet apart, and sign in. On the table, you will find hand sanitizer and instructions. There will also be two employees of Artsplace there to direct students at the start of class. There will be a ten-minute explanation of the safety rules at the first class, as well as a handout prior to class. The room will have air purifiers on at all times. Each station will be cleaned when the class is over.  There will be bathrooms available on that floor and there will be instructions on their use. No food sharing is allowed, but the student may bring food and a drink.

Room

I will have the use of a camera mounted on the ceiling that will record and project my demonstrations on a large screen in front of the room. I will be able to walk near each table to view and advise the student on his/her progress. I will use a clear plastic screen as protection between me and the student

Each student’s supplies will be placed in labeled box for their use only.  Artsplace will provide a  11” x 14” canvas board, vine charcoal, pencil and eraser, drawing paper, mineral spirits, easel, brushes size medium and small.  Oil paint would be pre-measured on cardboard backed palettes – labeled and stored in the freezer  between use each week.  Color copies of the subject will be supplied for each student. An additional canvas board will be provided if the student finishes their painting and wants to start a new one.

Tuition and Registration

Tuition for the four-week workshop is $90 for Cheshire residents, $95 for all others, all supplies included, except paper towels. Students must supply their own paper towels (and gloves, if desired).
